UCSB’s Alumni Weekend doesn’t just have to be for catching up with old classmates and seeing what’s new with your alma mater, it’s also a chance to hit up the downtown scene (just like the old times, yeah?)
We've announced our annual Alumni BBQ block party, providing alumni and party-lovers alike with an opportunity to let loose outside of the school grounds. Our outdoor patio will take your idea of a backyard BBQ to the next level. We’ll have food vendors and local artists on site to keep you fueled up and entertained all through the day and night.
This year, we’ve assembled a lineup of some of the top heavy hitters in house music. Chris Lake, Walker & Royce, and Born Dirty will be headlining!
Tickets go on sale Friday, February 23rd at 11 a.m. at alumnibbq18.nightout.com. Stay tuned for more info once the vendors have been announced!
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Chris Lake is an English electronic music producer/DJ, popular for his remix of Calvin Harris’s “How Deep is Your Love” or his collaboration with Australian producer/DJ Anna Lunoe, “Stomper.” Signed to huge electronic music labels such as Ultra and OWSLA, Lake is more than just your average house music DJ. He’s known for creating clean and authentic house, while also breaking boundaries. He uses catchy and unique vocal samples paired with wild overlaid beats, yet his songs still find a way to follow the classic 4/4 house music beat pattern. (Listen to “Operator” or “Give Her Right Back” to see what we mean) He’s a good time for sure and, quite frankly, the perfect choice for the Alumni Weekend block party.
Walker & Royce— made up of New Yorkers Sam Walker and Gavin Royce—entered the electronic music scene in 2011 after being exposed to it back in the early 2000’s. Fast forward seven years and Walker & Royce are making a name for themselves in the Tech House world. Signed to power[tech]house label Dirtybird, they’ve been increasing in popularity ever since the release of their first full length album, Self Help. Listen to classics like “Boy” or “Hit Dem Draws” to get the feel for their sound, but also check out some of their newest top hits like “Take Me To Your Leader” or Ashley's personal favorite, “Rub Anotha Dub.” Check out a recent mix from Walker & Royce as well as a free download of their new track “Reaching” down below.

London born DJ and producer, Born Dirty, first gained recognition when his hit “Don’t Stop Get It” feat Kid Sister became the soundtrack for Apple’s Macbook Pro ad campaign in 2015. Since then, he’s released tracks through Dirtybird, Fool’s Gold, OWSLA, and Night Bass, just to name a few. His sound is a unique mix of house, hip-hop, and techno vibes. Check out his latest hit “Crazy” or his popular banger “Daddy.”
